Youth in grades 5-12 explore the importance of nurturing their faith

as they face a changing, challenging world. With adult mentors and teachers who are devoted to their growth in spirit, mind, heart and soul, youth find a voice in a community of love and care. Youth encourage, challenge and support one another.

Sunday Mornings

Sunday mornings include a youth Sunday School class at 9:30 a.m. With adult mentors and teachers who are devoted to their growth in spirit, mind, heart and soul, youth find a voice in a community of love and care. Youth encourage, challenge and support one another.

During worship youth are welcome and encouraged to read scripture, help take the offering, hand out bulletins, etc.

Learning through Fellowship & Service

In a county that often changes school borders, the programs at First Pres provide youth consistency and support in a nurturing environment. During the school year youth meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays to share supper and fellowship from 6:00–7:30 p.m.

Youth participate in trips, study, and activities that help them form lasting relationships with others who share their faith.

First Pres engages in many service and mission opportunities in which youth are encouraged to participate. Giving to others inspires, enriches, and brings joy to people of all ages.

Confirmation Class

Confirmation class usually meets on Wednesdays or Thursdays from October through March and is available for all eighth graders and older students who have not been confirmed. Experienced teachers, the pastor, and the DCE lead participants in study of the Bible and history of the church, engagement in mission service, and an exploration of ways to nurture their faith in a world that sometimes seems to present more questions than answers. At the conclusion of the class, students who so choose will meet with the church’s Session, make a public profession of faith on Confirmation Sunday, and become active members of the church.
