Free Plant/Gardening Tool Swap & Giveaway

Spring IS Here! It's time for the Free Plant/Gardening Tool Swap & Giveaway (Rain or Shine) 

Drop off is 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10 and 8:00-9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11.

Everything is free and you don’t have to bring anything to swap. Beautify your garden, find a home for your green babies (both outdoor and indoor plants), get advice, clean out the garage, save money! Pick up a plant for a mom!

 

Special added attractions! Two Howard County Master Gardeners will give brief talks, at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.: 

• R. Vriend on “Companion Planting” - Planting different species close together to support growth and productivity. It is also important to be aware of incompatible plants that influence another plant’s germination, growth and survival. 
• C. Hipple on “Plant This, Not That” (emphasizing native plants) - You can have a beautiful garden without planting any of the many invasive or non-beneficial species often recommended by landscapers and sold in local nurseries. They can answer your questions!   

MORE added attractions! Door prize drawings at 11:00 a.m. to give away any special donations. (Sign up 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning; church members don’t need to be present to win.) 

Plus-we’ll give away coffee grounds as great plant fertilizer (mostly for acid loving plants)!

If you can, please shake dirt off or wash roots. Please, no invasives. Please fill out labels with basic plant information (available in Lower Commons to fill out in advance if possible, or at event). Bring a box or bag to collect your treasures!
