Tread Lightly for Lent
The Lent 2017 daily reflection-action calendar, “Tread Lightly for Lent,” was created by the Presbyterian Hunger Program’s Environmental Ministries and Enough for Everyone offices. This Lenten calendar begins with ways to prepare ourselves for the Lent and Easter season and then moves to weekly foci of women, creation, water, consumption, and social justice. Ideas for action can be used by congregations as well as individuals. You can pick one up at the Welcome Desk, or download it at pcusa.org – scroll to the bottom and look for Compassion Peace and Justice, and scroll all the way down to Resources. You can also look under Environmental Ministries. It’s there, and you can export it as a PDF or Word doc.
2017 Journey to Jerusalem
Our annual discipline of caring for our bodies kicks off on Ash Wednesday, March 1—so start getting ready to walk, run, swim, dribble, kick, bike, row, skate, yoga, Zumba® your way to Jerusalem during Lent.
We already know that we can get to Jerusalem easily and pretty quickly by heading east across the Atlantic. To challenge ourselves, we’re heading west, across the US and the Pacific, around the world to end up in Jerusalem by Easter Sunday!
Everybody can participate—children, youth, younger adults and older adults! 20 minutes of sustained activity equals one mile. 2,000 steps equals one mile. A sign-up sheet to let everyone know the kinds of activates you’re undertaking is at the Welcome Desk, and that’s where you’ll be able to pick up and leave the report slips.
